To prepare the brownies:

1 cup unsalted butter

2 cups of granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 cup cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon of salt

1 tablespoon of orange zest

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 cup fresh orange juice

To prepare the cream cheese frosting:

8 ounces of soft cream cheese

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

4 cups of powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

directions:

Preheat oven to 175°C and grease a 9″ x 13″ baking pan.

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and let it cool slightly.

In a large bowl, whisk the sugar and eggs together until well blended. Add the melted butter and mix until well combined.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture and mix until just combined.

Add orange peel, vanilla extract, and orange juice until well combined.

Pour the mixture into the prepared baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the brownies comes out clean.

Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan.

To make the cream cheese, in a large bowl, whisk the cream cheese and butter together until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing well until well combined.

Spread the frosting over the cooled brownies and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
