Ingredients:
5 1/2 pounds apples – peeled, cored, and finely chopped
4 cups white sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 cups white sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt
Getting started:
1. After you’ve peeled, cored, and chopped your apples – throw them in the slow cooker.
2. In a medium sized bowl, mix your sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and salt together. Then pour it right on top of your apples, and mix it together well.
3. Cover, and cook on high for 1 hour. Then, turn the heat down low and let it cook, and simmer for another 9 to 11 hours. Stir your apple butter occasionally throughout the process.
4. Spoon your piping apple butter onto some toasted cinnamon bread, and enjoy. Remember to put the rest of your apple butter in sterile containers – or to freeze it.
