How to prepare

Step 1:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Then grease a 1.5 quart baking dish.

Step 2:

Melt butter and stir in flour in a small saucepan. Then whisk in the milk very slowly and season with salt and cayenne. Allow the sauce to cook sauce on low until it is smooth and boiling, while also stirring occasionally with a whisk.

Step 3:

Reduce heat and stir in 1 cup of the cheddar cheese. Then place half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, and pour half of the cheese sauce over the potatoes. Do this again with  the second layer of potatoes and cheese sauce.

Step 4:

Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of cheddar cheese on top, and top with some paprika for color.

Step 5:

Allow to bake uncovered for about 1 hour at 350 degrees Fahrenheit or longer until the potatoes are soft or when the fork goes into it easily without force.

Step 6:

Remove from the oven and set aside to cool for a few minutes before serving. You can serve this recipe with any other delicacy of your choice.
